about the Programme
Ondřej Adámek’s “Follow me” tells the tale of a sensitive relation between an individual and a group of people who initially follow his ideas, only to recast and misconstrue them in their own way and finally to make fun of the original idea. At the same time it recounts a fruitful meeting between Adámek, a young composer as gifted as he is inventive, and the exceptional soloist Isabelle Faust, who deeply impressed him in a Bach recital. “Follow me” is dedicated to Isabelle Faust and is partly influenced by her readings of Bach.
The programme will also feature two other works. One is Rebecca Saunders’s “Aether” for two bass clarinets, which was premièred by Carl Rosman and Richard Haynes in 2016 and will now be heard for the first time in Germany at Musica Viva. The other is “Vertigo”, a work by the supremely gifted, prematurely deceased French composer Christophe Bertrand. It is a piece rich in colours and instrumentation in which two solo pianos unveil kaleidoscope variety amidst an orchestra that constantly generates new sounds. This musica viva concert will feature the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra conducted by Peter Rundel.
